If you haven’t already noticed, a new trend is emerging, so if you want to be one of the first in on this, be sure to read this article! The tie dye trend is going to be taking over in 2020, especially over the summer months, so it’s best to read up and get ready!
Now, you might have seen articles last year predicting the tie dye trend was going to be big in 2019. Well, it wasn’t really. This year, though, I feel like its going to be a little different, and definitely has the potential to be one of those “take-over” trends that you’ll see everywhere.
Tie Dye Is Returning…A Little Differently Though
This year, tie dye is returning but not the way you think. While there are those Tik Tok videos of people dying their clothes in the bright colors, this trend isn’t actually going to be that same type as the one trending in the 60s.
In 2020, tie dye is going to be mixed in with an ombre kind of feel, and the colors are predominantly light and pastel-like with more white mixed in. There’s also a greater focus on single color tie dye, especially with head to toe tracksuits.
Celebs Are Loving Tie Dye
Now this is something I’ve been starting to notice everywhere for celebrities. Not everyone is in on it yet, but we are slowly starting to get there with more and more people hopping onto the tie dye trend.
Jordyn Jones forecasted that tie dye was going to be “in” back in February, and plenty of other celebrities are starting to wear tie dye tracksuits and sweatshirts.
Katy Perry has released a new pump design with tie dye, although it is more of the brighter kind of feel.
Prominent Fashion Designers Know To Jump In Too
Ralph & Russo, one of my all time favorite designers/fashion brands, recently released their new Summer 2020 Ready To Wear collection, which is filled with soft tie dyed color patterns that look absolutely stunning.
How To Wear The Tie Dye Trend
The biggest thing to note in order to pull of this trend this year is to stick with the lighter colors and shades if you choose your top or bottom to be tie dye. So if it’s a main part of your outfit, you’ll want to make it follow the light pastel/white tones.
The simplest and easiest way to pair tie dye is to wear a tie dye sweatshirt, black leggings, and white sneakers. Tie your hair back with a scrunchie, and you’re right on trend! The key here is to keep it relatively simple. For a more chic look, have a fancier top that’s tie dyed and pair it with some white pants.
Obviously, we’d like to stand out from the crowd, so look for patterns and clothes that stick out a little and aren’t just like what everyone else is wearing. Add you own twists to your outfits!
If you want brighter tie dye, stick to the accessories (like Katy Perry’s new shoe design). It will create the perfect pop of fun to your outfit while keeping it on trend.
